ADMISSION CRITERIA:

* As per University rules purely on merit basis with English stream.

 INTAKE:
* The Department runs the B. LI. Sc, M. LI. Sc, M. Phil and Ph.D. courses.
* There are 30 (general) + 05 (Self finance) students in B. LI. Sc.
* 12 (General) + 14 (Self finance) students in M. LI. Sc part time 
* 10 students M. LI. Sc. (Self finance) full time and
* 20 students in M. Phil and
* 11 students registered for Ph. D. out of that two are foreign students.

Facilities available at the Department

The department has some basic facilities at present which is going to be updated in future.

Departmental Library: The Department has Library which has sufficient space for reading. Nearly About 2500 books are available and 10 periodicals of Library Science are subscribed. There is easy access of Internet facility. Department is connected to UGC-Info net.

We have one Computer Laboratory with 10 Computers with LAN and one Web Server. 

Moreover, we equipped with OHP, wireless Microphone & Amplifier systems and 
LCD Projector

Special Features

Alumni Association:

To create better professional bridge, the Department has “Alumni Association” of past students of the Department. Its objective is to share their real life professional experience not only with each other but to enact as an important vehicle to guide our future professionals and present students.  
At present there are 125 patron and life members in the association.

Library Science Society (LSS)

The department has recently forms “LSS”- To develop cohesiveness and cooperation among Future LIS professionals, cooperative social activity has been stressed in the form of various group activity programme focusing not only academic but social commitment and accountability.

To meet the objective of LSS, it appreciates students by Prize Distribution for outstanding performance in Examinations or such events.

This society is formed to organize activity like – Yoga Shibir, Blood Donation Camp, and Spoken English Classes.

All enrolled students are a member of LSS. 

SEMINARS & REFRESHER COURSE

SEMINARS
We are regularly organizes seminars on the various theme. Till date department has organized 07 number of state and National level seminars and conference. Some important seminars are as under:

  2. Computerization and Networking of College Library- 27th Feb.2011
  3. Rangnathan's Philosophy and Knowledge Management - 25th Aug.2011
  4. NAAC Preparation for  College Libraries - 27th Jan.2011
  5. Use of IT in library and IPR - 18th March,2011
DLIS has organized Two Refresher Courses so far, for the practicing Librarians to meet their CAS requirements in the year 2010 and 20111. Meeting Challanges of Information science in Modern era - 1st Jan.2011 - 24th Jan.2011
